These websites say who support them like famous scientists and they also say how you can stop fracking by sending letters to important people like mayors. They usually have a friendly tone which is surprising because they are going against something. There website is set up nicely and for me the homepage wasn't enough but the other pages helped.

Today's Issues
The government shutdown is a great example over how well our government works together. I'm very mad at the government and how it shuts itself down because they can't agree. I won't take sides on this argument because its everyone in the governments fault. They have to stop thinking that what they say is right they have to start agreeing with other people. I don't get how they think they will be able to stay in the government if the people hate them.
In other news tonight's game has the two long time rivals: ANDERSON VS TURPIN. I personally am an Anderson fan but past games would suggest that Turpin has the benefit of the doubt. So in all seriousness I would bet 100 dollars that Turpin will win but hopefully Anderson will have a better team next year.

GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN
The government shutdown is just one example of how bad our government is at agreeing things. The only reason our economy is in a ditch is because of our lawmakers not agreeing. The government shutdown effects people more than we think it does. It can effect people that use government food facilities so that they have to pay $5 for each meal which can really add up. Also some people really need the money from their jobs now for things like rent and food. The government needs to fix itself.

NAME ACTIVITY
The activity definitely solidified everyone else's names in my head. Now it won't be awkward when I'm talking to people because I know their names. I didn't get any new feelings from it but after I was done with my turn I got a little a bored. I was just a tiny bit annoyed with people who weren't paying attention so it took them ages to get through everyone's name. I feel that this activity took longer then it should have but overall I liked the activity.

My topic was on the navy yard shooting and it was a hard topic to get a lot on. The topic was not a great topic to research because there were a lot of gaps of information that I needed that weren't present. I wasn't able to answer all my questions because of what I said before. It was very hard actually to find a variety of resources that actually had different information. Most of the sites had the exact information and a lot of that information was wrong.

9/11
These lights are a memorial to the twin towers and all the people that died on that horrible day. These lights make me feel sad because of all the people that died to save others. The lights show that America still stands strong and even stronger after 9/11. It also makes me proud to be an american because nothing like that has happened since so we know we can trust our army to protect us even if they sacrifice themselves to do that. I trust america to protect us till I die!

I believe that I as a free person of the United States of America deserve the right to private searches on the Internet! Google should not be able to look at what I search just to tailor the ads to ads I will like. They shouldn't be able to look at my history because it goes against the constitution. The only reason they spy on us is to get more money which is just wrong. Their is no point in looking at what we search because most of us aren't criminals who are going to searching up where to get guns. This is why I believe Google doesn't deserve the right to spy on us.

1.What are we doing in literacy this year?
We are researching topics this year that we care about and want to change. The topic we pick will start off broad and then shrink into a more specific topic. We also find out who we should talk to to start changing what we want on the topic. In literacy we also are learning how to research better for high school and college projects.
2.What have you learned so far about research and questions?
I have learned that when you create a research question you should start out with a broad topic question and narrow it down to a more specific topic. Also when your are researching you should use things like Wikipedia and Google for more broad topics questions. When you are researching you should use .org, .net sites, and .gov sites because they can give you trustworthy information.
3. What topics are you considering and why?
I was considering researching how many kids get hooked on tobacco when they are below the age of 18 by getting adults to buy for them. I was also considering researching how many people die from texting while driving car accidents. Fracking near water supplies also seemed dangerous to me and I wanted to research why it is dangerous and if it can kill people if they drink the fracked water.
